Jakarta-Indonesia, Nov 22, 2019

SocDem Asia, in partnership with the Progressive Alliance and the Partai NasDem, successfully conducted its conference last 21-25 November in Jakarta, bringing together parties from Asia and the Pacific to take on the current discourse on the politics of identities, social democracy's role in extending human rights on a universal scale regardless of gender, religion. We also discussed ways forward and how social democrats must engage the diversity in our societies.

Parliamentarians and International secretaries from our sister parties met in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 3 to 5 December to discuss inclusive policy-making for social welfare. This meeting coincided with the inaugural launch of our Socdem Asia Parliamentarians Caucus at the Indonesian Parliament.

The Socdem Asia Parliamentarians Caucus has taken a momentous step by committing to translating social-democratic values into legislation on health, education, decent work, progressive taxation, sustainable development, and the promotion of social cities. This collective effort underscores our unwavering commitment to fighting for democracy and human rights, promoting multilateralism, and building welfare-based, just societies.
